F.A.Q

How do I work with you?

It starts with a consultation! We'll discuss your goals, your dog's behavior, and your lifestyle to find the best fit for you. Whether you're welcoming a new adult dog or working through long-standing challenges, we'll create a plan tailored to your needs.

I offer private lessons and day training in Columbus, GA and surrounding areas. You'll get practical guidance, personalized training, and support to help you build a better life with your dog. You don't have to figure it out alone!

What should I expect from you?

With over 10 years of experience and a CPDT-KA certification, I bring a personalized, positive reinforcement approach to every dog I work with.

No cookie cutter plans here! I'll take the time to understand your dog's behavior, your goals, and what's happening in everyday life. Together, we'll break challenges into manageable steps and build practical skills that work for your dog and your household.

Expect honest communication, clear guidance, and realistic expectations. My goal is to help you understand your dog, feel more confident handling challenges, and build a better life together.

What areas do you service?

I provide in-home dog training in Columbus, GA and surrounding areas within approximately 45 minutes.

Not sure if you're in my service area? Just ask!

What age should I start training my newly adopted rescue?

You can start building good habits as soon as your dog comes home! Training doesn't have to mean jumping straight into cues. Give your dog time to adjust while building trust, establishing routines, and creating positive experiences.

Whether your new companion is a puppy or a senior, I'll help you find an approach that fits their needs and helps you build a strong foundation together.

Is my adult dog too old for training?

Never! Adult dogs are more than capable of learning new skills, routines, and behaviors. In fact, many older dogs thrive with the mental stimulation and structure training provides. My programs are designed to meet your dog where they’re at, whether you're looking to sharpen manners or address behavioral challenges.

How do I know which training program is right for me??

The best fit depends on your goals, your schedule, and how involved you want to be in the training process.

Private Lessons are ideal if you want to work directly with your dog and learn the skills to address challenges yourself. You'll need to practice regularly between sessions to build lasting progress.

Day Training is a great option if you're short on time and want professional help with your dog's training. I work with your dog during the week, but you'll still need to attend transfer lessons, follow management recommendations, and practice between visits to maintain progress.

Not sure which is right for you? We'll discuss your needs and expectations during a consultation to find the best fit for you and your dog.

Do I need to be present for all training sessions?

Private Lessons: Yes! You'll work directly with your dog during each session and practice between lessons to build lasting skills.

Day Training: Not for every session! I work with your dog during the week, then we meet for transfer lessons where you'll learn how to maintain their progress. You'll also need to practice with your dog between visits and follow management recommendations.

How long does it take to see results from dog training?

Every dog and behavior is different! Some changes may happen quickly, while others take time, patience, and consistent practice. Factors like your dog's history, environment, and the challenges we're addressing all play a role.

I'll help you set realistic goals, recognize progress along the way, and adjust our approach as needed. Whether we're working on everyday manners or more complex behavior challenges, the goal is to build lasting skills that work in real life.

My dog listens at home but not in public. Can you help?

Absolutely. One of the most common struggles dog owners face is getting their dog to listen outside the house. I’ll teach you how to build reliability around distractions through structured public outings, personalized coaching, and real-world practice.

I’m busy—can you train my dog for me?

Absolutely! Day Training is a great option if your schedule is busy and you'd like professional help with your dog's training. I work directly with your dog during the week, then coach you through transfer lessons so you can learn and maintain their progress.

You'll still need to practice with your dog and follow management recommendations between visits. I'll handle much of the hands-on training, but we'll work together to make those skills part of everyday life.

Do you offer follow-up support after training sessions?

Yes, we believe in providing comprehensive support to ensure long-term success for you and your dog. After completing our training sessions, we offer follow-up support to assist with any questions or challenges you may encounter. Whether it's a phone call, email, or additional in-person sessions, we're here to help you and your canine companion maintain the progress achieved during training. Our goal is to ensure a harmonious and fulfilling relationship between you and your dog for years to come.

Contact us to learn more about our follow-up support options and how we can continue to support you on your training journey!

My dog already knows basic commands. Why would we need more training?

Great question! Training goes beyond basic cues. It's about building communication, navigating real life situations, and helping your dog succeed in different environments.

Whether you're struggling with leash walking, greeting guests, or staying focused around distractions, I can help you build on your dog's existing skills and make everyday life together easier.

Can you help with leash reactivity or fear-based behavior?

Yes! I specialize in helping fearful and reactive dogs feel safer and develop new skills. Using force free, science backed methods, we’ll create a step by step plan to reduce stress and build more appropriate behaviors. You don’t have to go it alone. I’ll be there to guide you and your dog every step of the way.
